How to register

1. Please fill out the Google Form to let me know if you're interested in attending the seminar.

2. Pay the seminar fee to GM Melik Khachiyan (not FIDE!): $285 - email us to discuss payment methods.

3. We will send you an application form. Please fill it out and make sure to list every achievement of yourself and your students in the document. This application form is used to rate your application and thus majorly determine the proposed title.

Important information

• The welcome email will be sent the day before the seminar starts.

• The Zoom link will be included in the welcome email.

• Please make sure you convert the lecture start times to your time zone.

• Join the WhatsApp group for regular reminders and to connect with other attendees.

2. Possible titles:

   • Developmental Instructor (DI): This license is given to trainers who bring the love of the game to children and adults starting out in chess and have the ability to teach the first steps in chess and then bring their students to the level of participation in a FIDE-rated tournament. Typically, teaching players rated up to 1200.

   • National Instructor (NI): This license is given to trainers who can grow their students' talent so that they are able to successfully participate in national and international cadet and regional youth championships. Typically, they teach players rated from 1201 to 1700.

   • FIDE Instructor (FI): This license is given to trainers who have the ability and knowledge to improve a student’s foundation and successfully compete in national, regional, and international cadet and youth championships. Typically, training players rated from 1701 to 2200.

   • FIDE Trainer (FT): This license is given to trainers who played at a professional level and who also have the ability, knowledge, and skills to help a student at international competitions in pursuit of title norms and championships. Typically, training players over 2200.

3. How do I get the titles?

   • Attend the seminar and take the test at the end of the seminar

   • Proposed titles are posted a few weeks after the seminar

   • Proposed titles are approved at the next FIDE Council meeting

   • Players need to pay the title fees to FIDE

4. How much do the titles cost?

For a trainer to receive the title, they must attend the seminar, and once the title has been approved, they also need to pay for the seminar.
Therefore, the title has two parts: seminar fee and title fee.

4. • Seminar Fee: payable to GM Melik Khachiyan. The fee has been $285 for 3 years now.
     Important: please do not pay this fee to FIDE.
     
     

   • Title Fee: payable to FIDE after the titles get approved by the FIDE Council. 

     • New titles: these are good for 2 years, the amounts are in Euros.

       • FIDE Trainer: 200

       • FIDE Instructor: 100

       • National Instructor: 50

       • Developmental Instructor: 50
